Background: In acute COVID-19, plasma D-Dimer is a useful biomarker and venous thromboembolism (VTE) common. However, it less clear whether this the case during long-term recovery. Objectives: To report values incidence of new VTE ≥90 days following COVID-19. Methods: British Columbia (BC), patients supported at Post-COVID-19 Recovery Clinics underwent routine investigations including as part learning health system. Among with positive (≥500ng/mL) test 90–180 COVID-19 symptom onset, we performed retrospective chart review to determine imaging for was done. Results: There were 806 reviewed. Of these, 252 (30.3%) had D-Dimer. Imaging pursued in 56 (6.9%) 9 (1.1%) diagnosed VTE.Interpretation: At post often positive, but relatively rare diagnose VTE.

International travel has become increasingly common and accessible, hence, about two billion passengers undertake international and domestic air travel each year. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious public health disorder which may occur following prolonged travel, especially after air travel. A direct relation between VTE development and prolonged travels has been documented, while some ...
D-dimer levels and risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism.
CONTEXT Widespread screening of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) for thrombophilic risk factors has become common clinical practice. Because of the increasing number of risk factors, assessing the risk of recurrence in an individual patient is intricate; therefore, a laboratory method that measures multifactorial thrombophilia is required. OBJECTIVE To prospectively study the relati...

Fibrin is the main thrombus component. Its production being definitely lower in in-patients than in outpatients. is followed by activation of the fibrinolytic system, resulting in plasmin generation and subsequent fibrin lysis (Figure 1). Dissolution of crosslinked fibrin leads to formation of specific degradation products, includMethods for measuring DD in blood ing D-dimer (DD),1 which can be...
A latex D-dimer reliably excludes venous thromboembolism.
BACKGROUND D-Dimer, a cross-linked fibrin degradation product, has a high sensitivity in patients with suspected venous thrombosis. Traditional latex D-dimer assays, however, have not been sufficiently sensitive to exclude venous thromboembolism. METHODS To determine the clinical utility of a latex D-dimer assay (MDA D-Dimer; Organon Teknika Corporation, Durham, NC) in patients with suspected...
